1. In project server after creating new project select build team.
2. Select resourcing which will work on this project, if you need to ensure that there is no impact on ‘availability-view’ of a resource select booking type as ‘proposed’.
3. Setting a resource to Proposed in a project is that the resource does not see the tasks on his/her timesheet in PWA.
4. Save & Close
5. Open up project schedule, select PMO Schedule page and create tasks duration – a typical tasks for project plan.
6. Assign resources from the drop down.
7. Save & Publish project plan.
8. In Resource Center, select the two view “resource assignments” & “Resource availability”
9. You can see the ‘proposed’ tasks assignments for those resources.
10. However, a resource view empty tasks assignments, under My Work->Tasks
11. The availability Graph does not show resource as busy.
12. Change the type of booking to “committed”.
13. Republish the project
14. Now resources will start receiving Tasks updates as shown in figure below.
15. A User can update tasks assignments under My Work-> Tasks
16. You can also reassign the task if required.
17. Select the resource by clicking ‘Select Resource’ and submit.
18. Before the task can be reassigned it requires approval from the task owner.
19. In approval center, task owner can view the task details as shown in image below.
20. Open task, update it e.g. Percentage complete, recalculate and save.
21. Ensure you click send to send to PM/Task Owner for approval.
22. Tasks owner will receive request for status update
23. Ensure that project is checked in. Approve all the status.
24. To publish Status Updates to project, so that the tasks updates are reflected in %completion of project plan.
25. Select, History – Status Updates.
26. Select appropriate date Range.
27. Select the tasks, whose changes you want to publish to project plan. Click Publish.
28. Alternatively, Project Manager opens and republish to publish changes due to status updates.
29. Open Project in project center, scroll to project Schedule
30. Edit and then publish the project plan. These steps require project to be checked in.
31. Changes are visible in project Center.
